Free public viewing platforms, secured through S106, are the City of London’s best-kept secrets—though they shouldn’t be. They offer a unique opportunity to enhance the public realm, providing accessible spaces that celebrate the skyline and foster a shared urban identity. As architects and urbanists, we feel a responsibility to ensure these platforms are not only delivered but also discovered by the public. Through a series of street interventions—serving as seating and wayfinding devices—we aim to enrich the urban experience, where visitors, office workers, and local residents intersect, inspiring them to explore the city from above and fostering moments of reflection and connection.
